Crying is often a healthy way to vent emotions. I've had a terrible shock this week and I needed a good cry. However, crying is unfortunately often interpreted by *others* as a sign of weakness. Sometimes if I have an argument with my husband and I start to cry, he acts like he "won." He doesn't seem to realise that women often cry when we are really, really ANGRY and I'm trying not to strangle him!

I don't think crying is a weakness; although, I know many people see it that way. Parents of my parents generation and on back were taught that it was a weakness because you were not to show your emotions esp in public. There are some people who are naturally sensitive and their emotions can get the better of them and the tears will naturally fall. We all react to our emotions differently; therefore, not everybody can cry like others and we need to remember that when we don't see others crying when we think they should. It is a strength to be able to cry esp in front of others, it shows how deeply you feel about something.

In a way it's a weakness. But I cry all the time..that's the only way I can let my feelings out if I can't change the situation. It is something we all should do. You feel a lot better afterwards. Well at least in my opinion.

It is definitely not a weakness, I think it is very good for the soul to get out all of the built up emotions. I have gone through periods where I have been unable to cry but have really needed to, and when I eventually did, the feeling of release was just what I needed, it really made me feel better.

No, crying isn't a weakness. Sometimes people just need and emotional release for some reason and crying is a natural, healthy way to do that. After a good cry, your emotions are more settled and your brain is able to kick back into gear.
Of course, if you cry to manipulate someone into doing what you want them to do, that's just plain wrong.

I think not crying and bottling it up is a sign of weakness or at least can lead to weakness. There is nothing wrong in letting your emotions out. It is healthy and helps all those involved in the healing process of whatever the problem is within.

No I would never consider crying to be a weakness at all, we all need that pressure release at times and a damn good cry gets it out of your system, I feel very sorry for people who say they can't or never cry, they must be torn up inside with emotion and when there bubble bursts one day it will be so much harder for them to cope with, a good cry is essential to us all when we need to do it.
Hope your alright, haven't seen you on here for a while!

I think it depends on the situation. Crying as a show of emotion is definately just a way of showing you care.
