What's this late 80's early 90's alien film?

Question

I remember watching a film ages ago, when I was little and I'm trying to remember what film it was. All I remember is kind of hazy, and maybe is warped, but it is a part of the film in which this guy has crash landed or is somehow stranded on another planet and happens to meet with an alien while there, he notices that the alien is not really hostile, so he buddies up with him even though they cannot understand each other. One night, or a little later, the alien pulls out a bunch of alien eggs that look like jelly or something and swallows them whole, the guy looks on disgusted, but having no other source of food, decides to eat some, and finds it's not so bad. That night, while the alien sleeps he walks up to the alien's eggs and tries to steal some but the alien catches him, but lets him eat the eggs. That's all I remember from the film. If anyone can identify this film, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

I second Chris's answer - the movie is 'Enemy Mine'.

My source is - I'm a sci-fi movie watcher/freak! And although not really a fantastic film, I can think of no others that are even close to that plot

I think it's a film called 'Enemy Mine', the alien is reptilian as I recall.
