In high school, it was very hard for me too. I could never get it. I thought that I would never need it, and saw no point to it. But the truth is; You do use it everyday.
Math is like a puzzle. Some of them are quick and easy, and others are long and hard. You have to change your way of thinking. No matter how much you might dislike it, learn to like it. Learn to be fascinated by it. Want to solve that puzzle. Take some of your easier problems and practice them, moving a step harder each time.
Now Math is fun for me. I love it, and have fun showing how to get the answers.
The answer is with your parents and teachers; they all tell you to practice, and this is where your problems will end.
Math is confusing. I remember once, I was helping my child with an algebra exam. In most text books the odd answers are in the back of the book. So these are the ones that I use and tell my kids to use until they figure out how to do it. But anyway, the answer in the book was different than the answer that I was coming up with. TWO long days I tried to figure out the problem. I had given up. I called the local university's math department and had one of thier students help me to figure it out. I was on the phone maybe all of two minutes, and finally understood what I was doing wrong.
Even though I had to in the end, get help, it was still an accomplishment to me, as I understood the whole problem and was able to successfully help my son to pass his exam.
Just practice. don't get frustrated, and always find help when you need it. It doesn't matter if you don't get it the first time, ask again and again until you get it.

The first thing to do is take a deep breath and relax :)
Learning any new skill can be difficult, and Algebra is a new skill that requires you to change the way you look at solving problems (so it's even harder to learn).
The first thing you can do to make it easier is to understand that you CAN understand it but that you cannot understand it instantly.
The second thing you can do is do more problems. Many of them are very similar and can be confusion. However, the best way to begin to recognize the subtle differences in the problems is by practice, practice, practice.

you should memorise the formulas first before applying them by doing math assessments. Do difficult questions. Master them and you'll pass with flying colors.
I can give you some difficult questions via email or msn. Solutions provided and if you still don't understand, I could explain to you through msn.Email me if you want.

Personally, algebra is the easiest to learn. Wait till you learn calculus. If you're can't master algebra, forget about learning calculus. Take my advice, master algebra as soon as possible.

This website www.algebra-online.com is great. I hate algebra because it's the same thing over and over again-you have to list the entire problem- Why can't you just give the answer? He He!But unfortunately it isn't that easy. It is the basis of moving forward with your education and once you do start to understand the layout of algebra it should come easy to you and if it doesn't their are always different fields to focus on when you get to college. Good Luck!

Probably the same reason you are having trouble spelling "tutor" and "easier." You are probably right-brained (literature, music, art, history...) instead of left-brained (math, science...). Well, just work at it like anything else. You never get something for nothing.

Ask you're teacher WHY these formulas and stuff work... it makes it a LOT easier... I didn't get geometry 'till my teacher explained why it worked and I finished out the year with 104% average.
