i want to send a message to another person on my server using command prompt, how do i do that?

Probably not possible without talking to you IT dept as both computers must have "Mesenger" service active and windows by default does not start this service for security reasons.

using the NET SEND command, you either need to know the computer name or the username.

The Messenger service needs to be started on both machines to do this, but a lot of places disable this service as it was a means of sending unwanted messages.

for example:
NET SEND sussieq Hey SussieQ, meet me for lunch

also all computrers have to have messenger service started to receive a net send message. control panel - administrative services - services - and scroll down to messenger and set it to start automatically

The above commands are just fine, if you're using windows. If you're on a BSD machine (unix / Linux) use

wall message. . . cntrl-d (to send to the message to everyone on your server, or

write username message. . . cntrl-d ( to send a message to a single individual)

use net send your PC to their PC name will work
