Oh poor things(the baby, parents, and even you)!! I heard colic can last all the way until they are a year but usually ends by 6 months. It is very possible that it ends sooner but I wouldnt count on it. Just love the poor little man as much as possible and try not to get too frustrated, imagine how he feels :( The mom should talk to the doctor, could be gas so gas medicine might help, could be asthma (what I had as a baby), or a number of other issues, keep an eye out and document when he has a bowel movement or urinates, check body for any rashes but colic's definition is no obvious reason for uncontrollable crying, so GOOD LUCK

Usually colic can happen from any time between newborn & 12 months. If the baby is crying contantly and wont stop, the parents just might have to seek for help, you'll just have to deal with it. The baby is only 3 1/2 months and the only thing that you can give him is natural teething tablets that sometimes helps relax them. He should already have a special formula for colic babies, if not have the parents take him to the doctor and have the formula changed. Bathe him with Johnson & Johnson lavender baby wash or anything that has lavender and chamomile, that usually will relax crying babies as well. If neither of those things work than maybe the parents should try asking the doctor for help cause it just might not be colic, it could actually be health related issues that poor baby has.

It may not be colic.. and was the baby premature.. this could delay colic issues also. Gas is painful and maybe the milk or food is just not sitting right. If this continues the parents really need to take the child into the Doctor and have some test ran to see if there is a hidden problem.. my son started teething early and this could make baby upset too. Matter of fact he had 2 teeth at 3 months. Hope you can get some quiet time soon.. good luck.

Babies cries for few reasons. 1) Cold, 2) Wet, 3) hungry 4) colic. They seldom cry for no reason.
When my son was a baby, he cries very often. Especially during passing motion. And it smells terrible. Actually,he is trying to tell us, he has a problem. We later discover he has a blocked liver and had to undergo operation before he reaches the age of two months.
Not all colics are over by 3 months.... It can be longer than that. Especially if the baby cry more, more air enters the stomach and hence more colicky....
Hence, it is better to bring the baby to a paeditrician to check thoroughly.
What I did was to massage some mild medicated oil onto the tummy to get rid of the colic as well as warm up his tummy. Once he feels the slow massage and warm hands, he will feel better if it is genuinely colic that is giving him pains.
Body contact is important to babies. Massage in a U shape around the tummy area helps to get rid of "wind" in the tummy as well as bond better with the baby.
Good luck.

my son had colic for 7 and a half months and nothing that i did could comfort him. you must be at breaking point now but it is something that you just get used to and then one day it will just disappear. our pediatrician gave some drops called: restropinal. i am sure that this didnt help with the colic but it did make they baby a bit sleepy on days when it was just too much to cope with. you can also try massaging the baby and pushing the legs tight up towards the chest to help relieve trapped air.
we spent most of the time driving around just to get baby to sleep
hang on in there i am sure that at 3 and half months it is at its worst and can only get better from here

Not all crying is colic. This was an old catch phrase that was used but as new causes are found it is removed from the term colic.
My son had acid reflux, at first we though it was colic. I do not think this is what the child you talk about has, since our child was fine when he was held upright.
Get the child to the doctors, and have them see if there is anything they can figure out.

Well, some babies are just naturally fussy, but if he's really as bad as ou describe, I'd advise the parents to take him to the doc- the pediatrician should be able to tell if it's still colic or something more seriously wrong. Colic USUALLY goes away by 3 months, but not necessarily like clockwork.

Colic is hard to handle some times if it is colic try these tips: Rub babys belly by spelling love with your hands over and over , lay baby on his back and take his feet and bend his legs up to his chest then release and repeat (these exercises will help move the gas out of babys tummy) if these dont work there is an old country remedy take a ciggerette and blow smoke in babys bottle and blow smoke over babys soft spot on the top of head cover with cotton cap I know it sounds wierd but it works

If he's colic, your right theres not much you can do.....My first son was colic up to a year old and now my third son whose 6 and a half months is still crying......So I think every baby is just different. Hopefully, he will get better soon......

are you sure it's colic? it could be reflux.... But colic can last for quite a long time... up to a year. But I give my daughter Mylicon or Gripe water (herbal) to make her feel better. You'd probably have to talk to the child's mother about that, but it does help a bit.
