I was told two days ago that I am having a little baby boy... I am so super excited but I dont want to get a lot of boy stuff yet... I am scared that when I deliver it will be a girl and I will have all boy things for her!

The tech told us right off the bat it looked like a boy... then she got him to open his legs and there was a little thing poking out in between... I know this sounds like a penis.... but I have heard it could also be the labia swollen...

I am 16 1/2 weeks - any advice? should I just believe it is in fact a boy?

If they could tell 100% that it was a boy then it is a boy. When I was pregnant with my daughter at 17 weeks I was told that they couldn't tell me what the gender was, so I had another scan at 22 weeks and the tech said that she think that it's a boy but I shouldn't go out and by clothes and items for a boy yet, my daughter was always in a very tight fetal position so it was hard to tell and the cord was wrapped around her thighs and legs, and so I waited until after she was born to purchase girl clothes and I only bought neutral colored outfit to bring her home in because I wasn't sure. So if you're not sure than just purchase neutral colored clothes for a boy or girl like yellow, green, brown, white.

Well my parents were all set for their bouncing baby boy. The doctors all told them they should pull out the decorative baseball wallpaper because there was a healthy boy on the way. So everyone was excited, especially my mom who wanted all boys.

And I guess something terrible happened to my penis because I was born with a vagina, ovaries, tubes you know the whole feminine package. So don't get too excited because I'm living proof that sometimes the penis thing doesn't work out.

Just buy neutral toys, and clothes like yellows and pastels that work for either and when the baby comes go out and get stuff directly related to their sex. So if you have a girl, the yellows and the pale blues and other pastels will look fine if you buy little unicorns to decorate the walls. And if its a boy, by a boy teddybear to decorate with and other boy like things.
You can't go wrong with neutrals.

A guy who works with my husband was told at 38 weeks that they were having a boy. Well apparently his penis must've fallen off in utero because she gave birth 2 days ago to a healthy baby girl. LOL. When I did work experience in the ultrasound department I was told that the labia can swell quite a bit and it will look like a scrotal sac, then the cord sometimes gets between the legs which resembles a penis.

When I got pregnant the 1st time, I was told that I was having a boy. I ended up having a healthy baby girl. I personally would wait until you have another ultrasound when you are farther along just to make sure that you are having a boy. If you want to buy some clothes now, you can always buy neutral colors that work for both boys and girls.

It is possible for them to make a mistake but the chances are pretty high they are right. The best time for them to be able to determine the sex is between 16-22 weeks. In little girls they look for "three lines" and you know what they look for in boys :-) I know how you are feeling with both of my chilDren I didn't want to get too caught up in the idea of having a girl or boy just in case they were wrong. But for me they were right each time, and with both pregnancies I ended up needing another ultrasound so I got another tech to confirm what I was told. Maybe you could have another one done. If your dr won't do it there are clinics you can go pay to have one done. Just to get some piece of mind.

If they say it's a boy, it usually is. It is the girls they make th emistake on. If you see the little thing poking out, you can guarentee it is a boy. Congrats on the baby boy!! Start decorating, and buying lots of blue :)
