I have been riding motorcycles for a little over a year now, and dirtbikes for a while. I have a Honda Rebel 250 and need more power. I will be going on longer trips, which is why I am considering a cruiser, but mostly on curvy, mountain roads, for the Honda 599. Thanks

Honda is good but I do prefer the v-star. I am a small woman, learned to ride 3 years ago, am 55 yrs. old. I have tried every bike out there and found the 1100 yamaha to be the best choice for me and i dearly love mine. I live in the Tennessee mountains and this bike is SO good on the curves. This is why i chose it. I was looking at the 600 size and thank god my husband knew enough to convince me to get 800 or larger. You can go on long trips without wearing yourself out. It is one of the most popular bikes out there, AND, you can get all kinds of aftermarket products and customize it without breaking your bank account. Will look for ya on the road !

Both brands of bike are very good. The key is the power of the bike. I assume you are talking about the 500cc version of the Yamaha V-star. This is a very sharp looking bike and it is hard to tell the difference between it and it's larger 1100cc version..cosmetically. The difference will be in power. The factor is how large a person you are as well. Most of the people I have talked to who have the 500 wish they had paid a bit more and got the 1100. You will feel it on the long trips.
Since you are used to the Rebel 250, you might be ok with the 500, but why not look around for a great deal on the 1100? Maybe a mildly used model?
I have a friend who has the latter and is very happy with it. Good luck!

the two one are stable motorcycles, get the single which you like the main. the two provide you with years of reliable provider in case you're looking after it. in my view, and it is precisely own, i could pass with the V-action picture star over the Shadow using fact (A) i've got owned many Yamaha's over the years and have on no account had a foul one and (B) i like the seating place of the Yamaha over the Honda. back, it somewhat is a private determination and is not any longer meant to declare that the Honda is an inferior product. additionally to easily right suited a prior positioned up; neither of them are chain force, the two are shaft drives. Like I stated, sit down on them the two and, if a threat, experience them the two. Then get the single you like the main.
