Read your Warranty and ask the AA or any of the breakdown services that you may be with. From my own experience anything that can be due to normal wear and tear. Ie: The tyres, wouldn't be covered. However, the spring could possibly be due to what would be deemed as "expected to work under normal circumstances" ie: The Springs. Should be covered. As I said read your warranty. If you think you have a case write a letter to the garage explaing that you consider The Springs to be covered and that they should be responsible for replacing it. Make sure you keep a copy yourself. If you still are not satisfied, then write a letter to the Ombudsman detailing your case and enclose the letter you sent to them. Then it's up to them to decide.

Bet it was a Megane, am I right? Scrap yards round here are all out of drivers side front springs, there's such a demand!
I should read your warranty very carefully - I suspect it only covers engine, gearbox & transmission; that's the norm for short-term warranties.

I would not be happy if this happened to me. I would have the independently inspected to see if this could have been prevented, and what the other one is like.
Write to the garage saying that it is not unreasonable for you to expect a spring to last more than 2 weeks. I think they knew it was weak. Ask them to repair at their cost, if they refuse, threaten with small claims court. The AA will help. Then get rid of the Renault.

Isn't it strange that when you get a warranty from a used car dealer and anything happens, its not covered in the warranty?
And then they wonder why they have such a bad name.

i think warranties might not cover "wear and tear" items like springs, shock absorbers, brake pads/disks ad tyres. Might be wrong though. read the small print

to expand on what has already been suggested get a diagnostic engineers report write to the garage demanding reinbersment (certificate of postage) state copy of report available on payment of the fee. (it's up to you what you charge but you must offer) when ignored. write again then instigate c court proceedings road springs are only changed in axle pairs.
