If you didn't know the family of the departed well, it doesn't matter too much. If this is someone related to you, though, it does matter. You shouldn't go with NOTICEABLE makeup on, but you could see people you haven't seen in YEARS and you do need to look nice, so wearing a small amount of makeup is appropriate. [Wearing too much would say to others that you are more concerned with your looks than with the occasion!]

I think it is appropriate to wear makeup to a funeral as long as it is not too over the top. Wear makeup that is light and not too dark.

i recently went to a family members funeral. i was concerned about what clothing was appropriate and things like that. You attend the funeral to show your respect for that person. You go as you normally are. If you normally wear make up, then wear make up. That is you. that doesnt change how your felt about the person. that doesnt show any signs of disrespect. Be yourself.

Why wouldn't it be appropriate to wear makeup to a funeral? Does anybody really care if you're made up? How is that disrespectful to anybody if you want to wear makeup? I missed something here...

Sure you can wear make- up to a funeral. but no bright colors, go as natural as you can.Try to minimize the amount you use. Still if you plan on crying no mascara, or eyeliner, do want them to start running and leaving you with balck srteaks running down your face.

Certainly makeup is appropriate. It should be worn like you clothes though. Colors and application appropriate for the occasion. I suggest staying away from the over powering colors and applications. Use browns or greys lightly for your eyes and the lips nice and natural.

I'd say go light with it.
If you're worried about etiquette, it dictates no makeup and no jewlery. If you're want to play it safe, like there are gonna be a lot of older people there, I wouldn't wear it. If it'll be a younger crowd generally the old rules of etiquette are ignored.

Wear what you would wear any other day~
Just because you going to a funeral doesn't mean you need to look like you should be in the coffin~

It's appropriate to wear minimal make-up. Don't overdo lipstick or eyeshadow or liner. Just go for a natural look. And if you think you'll cry, go without eyeliner underneath your eyes and no mascara.
