I am 20 weeks pregnant and yesterday had lower abdominal cramping - I also felt it in my upper thighs. I thought I had maybe just done too much (like pick up my toddler), so I thought it would be better this morning. Well, the abdominal pain is gone, but I still have the thigh/leg pain. Is this normal? Has anyone ever experienced this? Any solutions to relieve the pain?

Sometimes muscle cramping is the result of electrolyte imbalances (like being a bit dehydrated etc) I would suggest trying some sports drink like gatorade and see if that helps (drink a good amount) It also could have to do with the baby, the baby is getting bigger now (probably around 10-12 ounces) and could be putting pressure on a nerve causing the pain, in that case drinking some juice might get the baby moving and have him/her change position.. best of luck! feel free to contact me if you have any other questions!

yeah, i am 31 weeks gone and have started to get upper leg pains and cramps, which just come on out of nowhere, they were really bad last week, but seemed to have eased off, so i think it might be something to do with hormone levels etc,

speak to your midwife tho and make sure, as i didnt have stomach pains, i sometimes get a feeling, like period pain, but nothing comes of it, and hopefully wont until i have reached 40 weeks!!! haha

Anyway, congratulations and Good Luck

It could be the baby sitting on your sciatic nerve. If its in one leg, lay on the opposite side for a bit. If it's both then lay with your legs propped up for a bit and see if that helps. Good luck.

i suffered with this very often in my second pregnancy particularly at night time, sometimes so bad it would wake me from my sleep. my doctor told me to take a calcium supplement and drink a pint of milk before bed. potassium found in bananas is also supposed to help

Could be a kidney infection which could cause preterm labor, either way, CALL THE DOCTOR, NOW!!
