My friend is always getting babysitting jobs, simply because all of the neighbours on my street know her mother.
My mom has suggested printing off a flyer to deliver to the neighbours and other people that I know. Is this a good idea??
What are other ways that I can let people know that I'm here for babysitting, and get some babysitting jobs?

I forgot to mention that I do have my babysitting certificate, so I am very knowledgable in health, safety, emergencies, etc. while babysitting.

First of all, and MOST IMPORTANTLY.......Contact your Local Red Cross and take an infant/toddler CPR Course, and a babysitting class. Being certified will look great in your newspaper ads, church bulletins, and fl-yer's. Also, create your own business cards and leave then in an envelope stapled or glued to your bulletin or flyer. Get creative! Let the parents out there know of all the fun activities that await their children when YOU come over to babysit. Offer the parents a free night out to try out your services. Make sure that you don't charge too much, or too little. (Too little could indicate that you don't value yourself as a sitter, and too much could be a deterrent from hiring you at all) GOOD LUCK!

You could put an ad in the paper.... or, yeah, put up flyers in the neghborhood stores after you ask the person at that store if its okay... make sure you have your number on there that people can tear off. You can make little business card online at Vistaprint.com and all you have to pay is shipping and handling. They are having a sale, I dont know how ling it will be going on though. But its cool...you design it yourself then you pay like $6 for shipping then they come right to your house! When you see people with kids anywhere, talk to them and hand them your card, and talk to their kids too! Or you could put fliers/ business cards in the neightborhood mail boxes! But, Good luck!

Flyers are a great idea! And inexpensive. You can even create it through PowerPoint, and list that you are certified etc...that way people will know you're serious, you know? Put them in mailboxes or something, that would be a nice, discreet way of doing it. OR, put in ad in your paper with two maybe three lines. But if you're more comfortable with the idea of the flyers, go for it! Good luck!

I like your mother's idea. A flyer with all the info needed, hourly rate, the fact you have your certificate (shows responsibility) etc.
Perhaps you could also have a bonus points setup, with discounts for "regulars".
Fingers crossed and wishing you success....

Put out flyers, have your parents talk to their friends or even put up posters. Be sure to mention your certificate as people will trust you better with it.

FLYERS IS A GOOD IDEA. ALSO GTE MORE PERSONAL AND IF YOU SEE THEM OUT WALKING TO THERE CAR OR WHAT NOT APPROACH THEM SAY HELLO INTRODUCE YOURSELF AND DONT BE PUSHY JUST LET THEM KNOW THAT YOU ARE A CERTIFIED BABYSITTER HERES MY NUMBER IF YOU EVER NEED ME CALL. ALSO GO TO LOCAL PRESCHOOLS OR YOUTH CENTERS AND PUT UP SIGNS OR LET CONSOULERS KNOW TO PASS ALONG TO THE PARENTS YOUR NUMBER. GOOD LUCK.

Definitely type a mini-resume. Include your skills, the fact that you're certified, your interests at school, etc. Put one in every mailbox in your neighborhood.
