Carbon dioxide levels are higher than they have been in over 650,000 years and are climbing steeply. Over 99% of all earth scientists believe we we humans are the cause of this, but in the popular press, considerable doubt remains. You may choose to believe whomever you wish on the cause, going against all the experts if you wish; but there is no doubt whatsoever that warming is happening. Unless we want to see 100 million refugees from rising oceans alone, yet this century, we need to try to reverse this trend - even if you believe it is a natural one.
--------------------- Items below taken from the reference URL
By burning fossil fuels such as coal, gas and oil and clearing forests we have dramatically increased the amount of carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere and temperatures are rising.
Global warming is real. The evidence is overwhelming and undeniable.
We’re already seeing changes. Glaciers are melting, plants and animals are being forced from their habitat, and the number of severe storms and droughts is increasing.
The number of Category 4 and 5 hurricanes has almost doubled in the last 30 years.
Malaria has spread to higher altitudes in places like the Colombian Andes, 7,000 feet above sea level.
The flow of ice from glaciers in Greenland has more than doubled over the past decade.
At least 279 species of plants and animals are already responding to global warming, moving closer to the poles.
If the warming continues, we can expect catastrophic consequences.
Deaths from global warming will double in just 25 years -- to 300,000 people a year.
Global sea levels could rise by more than 20 feet with the loss of shelf ice in Greenland and Antarctica, devastating coastal areas worldwide.
Heat waves will be more frequent and more intense.
Droughts and wildfires will occur more often.
The Arctic Ocean could be ice free in summer by 2050.
More than a million species worldwide could be driven to extinction by 2050.

What global warming is? It's a MYTH. Sure, the planet may be warming up some, but are WE the cause of it? If so, how do you explain why the planet has seemed to go through warm and cold spells for, say, hmmm...The PAST MILLION YEARS?
Back in the 70's the enviromentalists were screaming that pollution was going to cause the next ice age, now it's global warming. Hell, Al Gore can't even make up his mind RIGHT NOW! He blamed this past winters huge snowstorm in Upstate New York on WHAT? Global warming!

Unplugging your phone charger isn't really going to do much - though I agree that every little helps and it is better than nothing. The average American is responsible for 19 tons of carbon a year; the average European is responsible for 4 tons; the sustainable amount per human is 1 ton!
We've all got to do something about this, but Americans are going to have to give up their SUVs soon otherwise Bangladesh is going to sink.

I have found that most people don't care to know about global warming or even think that it's real, but it doesn't take a scientist to know that if we don't take care of our earth, we won't be around for long...I live in a place that because of progess has destroyed acres and acres of trees just to build things in the homes that people will move here. Where the weather was once humid in the summer and had lots of rain, is now dry and at times we are in a drought condition....cut down the trees you'll soon become a desert....and this has been proved time and time again.
If we don't demand of our leaders that they start using ethanol instead of succumbing to the pressures of the oil companies then we have no one to blame but ourselves for not taking care of the earth. But then it's hard to convince people that there is a problem when it doesn't affect them..I'm guessing it will take a major catastrophe of a major propotion before "all" will respond..but by then I fear it will be too late.

And Yes. Global Warming is when the sun's radiation gets trapped in the earth's atmosphere because there are too many green house gases which include carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide and more . The heat gets trapped because the waves of the radiation are higher and slower that when they come in because people use too much of the heat. And it is hard to stop Global warming because when we use factories we screw up the earth and when we use the heat from the sun we are screwing up the earth. But I believe we should use energy from the sun as it doesn't hurt us as much. I can't wait until Toyota makes some better Hybrid Cars and when they get cheaper.

global warming is the result of the weakening of the ozone layer which consequently causes abrupt climate changes in parts of the planet, the salinity of the oceans is dissolved by the melting of glaciers which dumps freshwater into the oceans, enough awareness is not created due to the consequences it might bring upon the economy of the world, an economy ruled by fossil fuel, the root of the decline of our ecosystem

Many (if not most) Americans are too busy with real, important issues...like, who'll be the next "American Idol".
There is little time to keep up with (let alone process) information that most people perceive as beyond their capability to change or control.
How wrong they are.
From the simplest actions like recycling to using car-pools or public transportation to writing your congressperson, all have an impact and effect that can bring about change.
Some ancient wisdom for us all to ponder:
"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."
