I am flying from Memphis to Houston next friday, and all the tickets I've found are around $500-600 per person.
Is there any way around this? Do you think I can find anything cheaper?
I have to leave after 5pm because of my job, so that makes things kinda tough.
Are there any good sites that I might try? I've tried pretty much everything and I'm just at my wits end now. lol...

I actually live in Jonesoro, AR so nashville would be a 5 hour drive lol...can't do it. Sorry but thank you for your help.

Unfortunately the reason you are coming up with what you are is there is no advance purchase. The flights from Memphis to Houston are Scheduled air tickets that have fare rules such as advance purchase, certain class of service, etc.
If you checked say yesterday on these flights, then today I would say they have gone up. You are right at the 7 days out and once you go within that time frame this ticket will most likely go up even more, it's just a matter of how much more it will be.
I don't know of the situation of why the last min. reservations, maybe you were unable to plan? Either way, many believe that by waiting last min. the flights will suddenly drop in price. In the past, yes more so. People though are going to start seeing more and more this not happening. There are several airlines struggling to get out of bankruptcy, many since 9/11. They have to charge a certain amount to even cover how much it costs to run that flight, let alone make a profit. Otherwise they are paying for the consumers to fly which well obviously makes no sense.
Anyways, I'm sure you were probably looking for another answer, however I am going to be honest with you instead.
If you need to go on this flight, do it today!
