First off, try not to worry (I say that as a first time mom who worried all the time while pregnant!) The baby moves with rolls and gentle movements, some of which you don't feel. Lots of babies also have their days and nights confused (since it's always dark in the womb) and he or she might be active while your wife is fast asleep!
I was on my feet throughout my entire pregnancy and our healthy little girl didn't move much at all during the day. It was only later at night, while I was totally relaxed, that she moved.
If you can, experiment to see what your baby responds to. Some babies will become active after a big meal by mom, or a sugary drink or even a little bit of cola. Mine personally was most active if I had a nice tall glass of ice water while laying down on my side. If your wife plays around with laying in different positions and drinking/eating different things, you both might notice more movements. If not, it might just be more normal for your little one to be a relaxed little babe in there. I'm sure he or she is just fine!

Maybe the baby is just lazy. My daughter didn't move around a lot either and all test came out fine the doctor put it off as a lazy baby. I was also told to eat some chocolate when she didn't move to see if it would get her to move and it did. Something with the sugar just make them move. It might also be that he/she is a big baby and there's not enough room for them to move around. When my daughter was born she weighed 9lb. 2 1/2 oz. So she was big and I guess there wasn't enough room for her in there. Now my Son moved around a lot and he was only 7lb. 2 oz. so I'm thinking this is true. But i would try the chocolate and see if that works. Good Luck I'm sure everything is just fine.

If this is her 1st child then it is normal. It is hard to tell when the baby is moving.. their kicking has slowed down and they are more just moving around to get comfortable. I am also 34 wks and 3 days today. I have noticed just more squirming so to say. She should be getting NST's by now and this will show that the baby is moving around when the heart rate accelerates. When the baby drops in the pelvis more the movements will decrease as well. Tell her to stay calm and try not to stress over it. Tell her to lay flat for 30 mins and see how many times she can feel the baby move.. not kick. It is alot harder to tell when you are sitting up or standing. Good luck and Congrats.

At this point, there is very little room left for baby to move around. As long as the doc thinks everything is okay, and she IS feeling SOME movement, I would say that she is probably getting ready for delivery. Just try and keep her calm. Also, the baby could be moving lots when you guys are sleeping at night, and so they aren't detected. Just stay calm and remember that the doc says all is fine! Good Luck! Sounds like you will be a daddy VERY SOON!! :-)

Try poking and provoking the baby to move. All 3 of my babies were very active. I could usually get them to move more by messing with them - rubbing my stomach, etc. But - also towards the last 2 weeks of my pregnancies, they all did slow down their movements. At that time, they are running out of room fast and getting themselves ready for birth. I would just keep in check with your doctor. If you still are uncomfortable - you can ALWAYS go to another doctor maybe a ob/gyn specialist and get a second opinion.
Good luck!

Is this your first child? In my first pregnancy I barely ever felt any movements even in the last months. But this time (my second) I feel it all the time, every pregnancy and baby is different. The baby may be most active while you are both asleep and therefore not feeling all the movements.
Don't worry *UNLESS it becomes less frequent or not at all and if it is accompanied by excess pains or spotting. You are doing all you can by keeping your reg OB appts and doing ultrasounds. Good Luck to you and your family! :)

I had my baby at 28 weeks. I called the doctor because I hadnt felt him move for 24 hours. If you dont feel any movement for 24 hours then call your doctor. If you get worried before the 24 hours is up tell your wife to drink a glass of orange juice and give it about 30 minutes. That is what they did to me in the hospital to see if he would move.

Some babies are lazy, or should I say very relaxed.
IF your wife is overweight, (and no I am not suggesting that she is) she may not feel as much movement as a thinner woman would.
Our babies still move, even if we don't feel it, as long as she is still feeling some movement, and doc says everything is ok, then relax.
I would suggest that your wife spends more time in a Lazy Boy Chair with her feet up. As we move around, we rock our babies, and they sleep. When we sit down and stop the rocking motion, our babies wake up and move.
Also, as baby gets bigger, there is less room to move around.

Once you get to this point in pregnancy, you don't notice the kicks as much because you are used to them. One way to tell if that's really all the baby is doing is to have wife lie down on left side and count the kicks for an hour. If she only feels a few or no kicks, give her some juice and try again, if this doesn't help, call the doctor so they can do a stress/nonstress test. You should get 10 kicks an hour.--nurse
