Are you in a city? There may be ordinances about tree height.

Are they near/under power lines? Call the power company and complain.

Are they on the property line? Check the ordinances. In my city, any branches that hang over a property line are the other person's property. I had a neighbor that did this, so I cut all the branches on my side. The trees all fell over!

And if you're underhanded (like some people I know *wink*), you can sneak out there late at night and dump a cup of Clorox around the base of the tree to kill it.

Ok, tree-huggers! Go ahead and thumbs-down me! I'm ready for it!

Probably not a whole lot you can do...
it is a free country after all.

You could get away with trimming anything that extends over into your property however.

Check online or give a call to your local City and see just what local ordinances there are that cover this.

trim the damn thing yourself, seriously my neighbor had one of those and it started to lean over and tear up the pavement with it roots. It a look out for that. when it does that , talk your neighbors and let them know. even offer to do it for them for free ( most things free, people will accept it, most) or take it to court, LOL
