The dryer is part of a closet combo. It has been is my basement for at least 6 years. After the installers were done they asked me to start it. I did but the smell is horrible. I don't know what to do or who to call. Help

Undoubtedly that horrible smell is where mice have moved in and made it their home...Of coarse a bathroom is a part of the home and thats what you're smelling unless one got trapped and died. Either way "horrible" seems to be an inadiquate adjective to describe it. To be honest unless you take it apart and clean it yourself the cost of a new one is not that far out of reach from having your handy dandy appliance repairman hand you a bill for a couple hundred bucks. The bad part is that if it's not cleaned the smell can last for a very long time.

The good news is that it can be taken apart and cleaned. There's not that much to it. Before calling anyone however, a few screws taken out will expose much of the area . Do a little investigation yourself. The first place to start is the exhaust.

sounds like something died in it , clean it thoroughly and restart, if it still smells try a different cleaner and clean again, if that doesn't help time to get a new one, sorry it's just that bad, hope this helps....jim, ps. had the same thing but was lucky after the second cleaning

Dirt build up on coil . Maybe a mouse nest was built in the dryer and is cooking.
