"Swimming Doesn't Teach Character, it Defines It." - That's the first thing we tell our team every year and the motto we live by continuously. Swimmers learn teamwork, hardwork, the joy of victory, the price of a few milliseconds, the agony of deviating from a strict diet and training schedule, the ability of willpower to overcome odds, the impact of injury and the patience of a long recovery. They learn to encourage each other and support their teammates while bettering their own times for the good of the team as a whole in addition ot the good of their own self-confidence. Our swimmers are also drilled on the key values of the YMCA: Responsibility, Respect, Caring and Honesty.
