I am going to begin pursing another job. I am currently at a job I HATE! I am a good worker and they would have no complaints about me. We recently got new management who is AWFUL!

With that in mind how do I word my cover letter and resume in a tactful way to explain why I am looking for a new job? I don't think I want to tell a future employer I hate my current boss!

Keep negative things out. You will sound like a complainer.

Just talk about what you expect to find. "great team", "professional growth", "opportunity to excell".

Tell them what you are looking for, not what you are leaving.

Focus on the positives. Don't say you hate your current job but instead say you want to make the next step up, move your career along and take new opportunities.

You don't have to mention anything about your current employer on your cover letter. Just say you want to expand your experiences and grow or try new career path.

When they ask for your references, you can put your current employer but let them know not to contact them yet because you don't want to jeopardize your job until you find a new one.

i would go with the - wanting to persue a more challenging position in a new working environment. maybe also express interest in a hard working team of people to develope your skills in working in a team. it all depends on what your current job is - and if its really the direction you want to go - i like to compliment the new position as being more in the direction you really want to take your career.

You are "looking for new opportunities to fully utilize your talents in a dynamic and growing company." You are never leaving because your boss is a slug.
