I answered a phone and told the caller that the phones were forwarded and the office people didn't come in until 9:00 o'clock. So he paused and said "so, no one's in office there until 9:00?
I had to be polite and say "yes, that is exactly correct."
Do some people work harder at being stupid than others?

Well it could be that some people are hard of hearing and they repeat things told to them to confirm that's what you actually said...

My husband and I are both deaf in one ear and so when we talk to folks on the phone, it is sometimes hard to hear or understand...

Some people have a bad phone connection and it sounds like the caller is far away...
We have that problem also...
So please be patient...
We don't all have perfect hearing or phones to listen to...

I have so many people call me from my own doctors office and they either talk so fast I say will you repeat that, I didn't understand you, or they talk so softly, I tell them to speak up cause I can't hear them...

People have so many ways to speak on the phone and it's not all good manners when they do...

Sometimes I can hardly believe the people that are allowed to answer a business phone with their bad telephone talk...
I want people to speak clearly and slowly so I can hear and understand...

When I make hotel reservations or doctor appointments,
I always repeat the info I am given to confirm I have it all right...
It never hurts to make sure you have the correct info the first time and not have to call back a second time...

We get stupid calls all the time at my office. Stupidity is hard to tolerate. The worst is truck drivers saying "How do I get there from Texas". It's like don't they have a map?

ME : "Hello this is XYZ [ business] can I help you"
THEM :" Are you open?"
ME :" Yes we are. "
Them : "Well when will there be a man there I can talk to ?"
ME :" I am the owner."
THEM : " OH never mind."
What was that about ? I think they must try real hard . So sad this world is so confusing.
