Take your vitimins.... They are rare to cause much nausea.. sometimes of course you do get sick but morning sickness is common also during the 1st few months cause of excess hormones particularlly HCG.... The help/outcomes/benefit outweighs the potential side effects by far.... preventing diseases such as spinal-bifida... cleft pallet.. etc... which can be caused from poor nutrition in pregancy... (vit C) .... If they make you sick stop and take another brand... good luck...PS.. yes all the answers about IRON are correct.. ;-)

Prenatal vitamins are extremely good for you, especially when you are a first time mom. The added minerals and vitamins they provide prevent you from getting dangerously low on certain body sustaining items.
Items to watch for:
1) Extremely hard, dark (almost black), or tarry stools. This is a sign of overabundance of iron, and can cause significant liver problems. If they are really hard, constipation, and hemmoroids are the usual result, and can be painful. IF this happens, cut back to once every 2 days, and let your doctor know about it.
2) Yellowing of the white part of the eyes. This is a sign of too much beta-carotene (what makes carrots orange), and can affect your vision. IF this occurs, stop taking the vitamins immediately, and see your doctor.
Those 2 items are pretty much the only problems you should have to deal with. Both are very rare, tho, so don't worry too much, ok? Women have been taking prenatals for a long time, and the vast majority have no trouble at all!!

I'm not sure about MAD, but I took my prenatal vitamins at night shortly before bed. It was just always easier to remember at that time for me, plus this way I figured I wouldn't feel ill from them. You will probably still get the usual nausea/morning sickness from the pregnancy though. Unless you are one of the lucky ones. I recommend keeping a little something in your tummy at all times. That helps. Also I just read that smelling fresh cut lemons helps? I haven't tried it but hey anything is worth a try. Also drink lots of water and other fluids throughout the day to help w/ any constipation.

Prenatals are vitamins with extra iron.. don't take them on an empty stomach the iron will make you sick. If your nauseous just eat a couple of saltine crackers before you take the vitamin and 2 afterwards so the iron won't upset your tummy.

i'm only taking folic acid yet my fertility expert instructed me that it is stable to take a prenatal nutrition while you at the instant are not taking the rest. i'm already taking a multivitamin with extra iron so the prenatal became pointless for me. as long using fact the prenatal has 4 hundred mcg of folic acid you ought to be nice taking those.

Eat a little something before you take them. Start off with only half of one, and take that for about a week. After that, take a whole one. Also, only take them on that part of the day where you don't feel pukey.
I didn't take them with my first pregnancy, and I wish that I had. With this pregnancy, my teeth are stronger, and I have more energy.
Also, more than anything, you need the folate that's in those. Take them!

They are simply vitamins. They help your body be the strongest and most healthy it can be for the baby. As with all vitamins there is the possibility of being sick to your stomach, but take them with food, and do the weak tea and crackers thing, or ginger ale and crackers if you do feel sick to your stomach. You'll be fine taking them. I'm mom to 3.

I have 4 kids and took prenatals with all of my pregnancies. They were fine..didn't cause a problem at all for me. Some women get constipated with them because they contain high iron but the pros for your unborn child far outweigh the cons.
Congrats & good luck!

I take my prenatals at night before I go to bed, to avoid getting sick from them (I did when I took them in the morning).

They made me sick if I took them on an empty stomach. Take with food or water and you'll be fine. Remember though they have lots of iron and will cause you to be constipated. Remember to eat lots of fiber to prevent this
