humans and their ideas are diverse and so are our upbringings. As long as we have free thought, we will always think differently from each other, and eventually we'll argue, the argument will turn into a debate, and eventually someone will escalate it into violence. Then others will join in and choose sides, as the people mass, they look for a leader, once they are found, war begins. While the steps to it may differ slightly, the end result is always the same.

In theory, they can end as media impact increases. Modern media gives us a direct view of war, where it's not at arm's length. For example the Iraq war, it's everywhere, people get passionate for it and they want it over. If it was like in WW2 for instance, you wouldn't get the constant feeds, just bits and pieces, so you wouldn't be as passionate I think, you just wouldn't be exposed to it.

A far better example might be the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict, which lasted a month and 2 days. I believe without media exposure it might've lasted longer.

So media gives us exposure, which can give us peace.

That said, wars are necessary. For several reasons. There will always be people who are screwed up and get into power and start wars, or commit atrocities and must be stopped. If we do not stand up to these tyrants by way of force then there is nothing to stop them other then their death by old age, which will just get them more followers.

Also education helps, the more educated the people the less they see a use for war. As is we in the developed countries don't conquer the ones less developed than us for their resources, mostly because we're highly educated. I think with the rise in intelligence globally that there will be less of a need for petty wars, and that again will help us reach our goal.

So wars may never end, but we can still be moral and intelligent people and only fight the ones that need to be fought for the greater good.

No, never. I'd highlight two out of a myriad of reasons that may explain the perpetuation of wars:
1. Factions at war are made up by coalition and alliances. There are conflicting issues between them that they put aside in order to confront a common enemy. Once victory is achieved, then these factions embark on power struggling, bounty sharing and stuff, and thus war enter a new stage.
2. For a war to the end some sort of treaty or agreement must be agreed upon, signed and enforced. The terms of such treaties carry the seed of the next war.
If you toss in other aspects (mercenaries, guerrilla warfare, armed resistance to occupying forces, insurgency) then you have a good recipe for a never ending sate of warfare. Mr. Cheney's mouth must be watering.

Yes wars can end.. at least temporarily. it's human nature to come across conflict, and as long as people disagree on things, there will be fighting. When it's something global like the war on terror, wars wind up happening. I wish they could just end because my dad just headed over to Kuwait a few weeks ago, but they can't. When someone tries to ambush your country, you can't just turn the other cheek and hope it goes away. you have to send brave soldiers who are willing to fight for their country's freedom over until the conflict is resolved. Wars don't just 'end'. Someone has to come out on top, and for every soldier who has served or died so far in wars, I hope we ALWAYS win.

theoretically speaking - yes ! But, practically I doubt it very much...Let's say the world is run by computers and there's no possibility of someone taking power in his hands ...That should be fair enough, shouldn't it ? I mean people supervised by computer should perform their tasks exactly as prescribed and allowed by ultimate law ! Imagine, every offense being punished immediately like in a motion picture " Terminator " for example, and the sentence would be - death...I believe under such strict circumstances most of common people, as well as politicians would behave as they should...Any system created by people is necessarily unstable and condemned to crumble in the end...if not by war, then surely by internal weakness and corruption !

They can - but they won't.

Jesus Christ said that there will always be wars and rumors of wars.

And Christ doesn't lie despite what the Republicans tell you!
