The first show that comes to mind is *24* and even though I've only watched it once, I hear that it is very politically charged.

My answer really is going to be anything written/created by Dick Wolf.....who does all the Law & Order shows (Law & Order....Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order: Criminal Intent)

All of these shows, have had quite a few political statements over the past several years. Long time fans will agree I'm sure that it is apparent that whether or not its Dick Wolf writing the content of the shows, or Peter Janowoski (I'm pretty sure that is how his last name is spelled) there always seems to be something to do with the government....seemingly almost coming across as anti-government (anti-Bush?)

Another show that I can think of, also on NBC is ER, they did a whole series of shows based on the war in Iraq and also issues concerning Darfur.

Of course....these are my favorite shows :)

Mission Impossible...the TV series from the 60's. American storytelling at its best. Thought provoking...and horrifying especially when you consider whether or not such teams were actually in existence...doing what these guys do best.
I grieve for those who have grown up with Cruise at the helm of MI. The series was always about teamwork, planning, precision and improvisation. Some of the best stories were about one of the team getting in trouble or being stuck behind enemy lines...or when the wheels would come off during a mission and all hell would break loose. Watching the other team members come to the aid of their fellows made for riveting television. There has never been a crew since...in american television...that went to bat for each other with such calm but ferocious intensity. Truly...they never left their boys...or girls...behind. Classic television at its best. Jack Bauer and Ethan Hawke...eat your hearts out.

Yes, Minister.

It's a British TV show from the 80's and it is SO MUCH like real British politics. It's satirical and hilarious.

In the States I think I'd say the West Wing or Spin City or something like that - but I'd say when it comes to that witty writing, Brits win here hands down.

The West Wing - it showed what good government can look like when conducted by intelligent, committed patriots who work as a team. I have withdrawal symptoms.

24 has the government's number, especially last season (start a war for oil, etc.)

the major difference is that, on 24, the corrupt are removed from power.
