Personally, if Russell is off the board, I would trade the pick. First of all, I am not all that sold on Brady Quinn. Secondly, I believe he may fall to as low as eighth or tenth.
The Lions are a lousy team for many, many reasons. Quarterback is just one of those reasons. Sure, it would be nice for them to have a solid QB, but beyond Jemarcus Russell, there is not one stud in the pack, this season. The Lions have so many needs that they should do their best to obtain as many picks in the first three rounds as possible.
Wide receiver is definitely not a need. It is perhaps their strongest area. Roy Williams made the Pro Bowl without a quaity QB getting him the ball. Secondly, Martz offense does not require a top flight QB for success. In my opinion, it is the system, not the QB which was the reason for the Rams' success in the late 90's. Also, with the addition of Shaun MacDonald, wideout seems to be addressed.

The lions need a lot of help. As high as they are picking in the draft, they are going to get a top prospect no matter who they select. The thing about getting a WR is that you need to have someone who can get the ball to him.
The first round is always a no-brainer. The thing that separates the good teams from the poorer teams is the caliber of players they consistently draft in the middle rounds. Look at the Chargers. They were consistently one of the worst teams in the league for years until they hired John Butler (now deceased) and A.J. Smith. They made the smart first and second round picks, but a good deal of the core of that team consists of low round picks and undrafted free agents.
And that's what the Lions need. Savvy drafting in every round and good free agent signings.

Millen can make any pick and survive. He could pick Troy Smith and it wouldn't effect his standing. He is the owner's friend. Nothing against Troy Smith but he isn't a first rounder or 2nd pick. They could EASILY get him in the second round if they wanted him. I'd probably take Peterson or a QB though if I was the GM. What QB do they have? If you say Kitna, how long do you think he will be there. Good idea to get a new one ready for next year.

The lions should trade down and pick up Brady Quinn. They could trade spots with the Texans because the Texans will want Adrian Peterson. Get the Texans first and third round picks. Then in the third round they could choose someone like Anthony Gonzalez or Steve Smith

Why in God's name would they waste another first round pick on a wide receiver? They've drafted a wideout the last 3 drafts and they still suck. They have so many holes I'm not sure what they should do on draft day, but I'll tell you this much, if they draft another wide receiver and Millen keeps his job the entire Ford family should check into the pyscho ward.

Sure, if you want the whole city of Detroit to start a riot (granted, Calvin Johnson is an incredible WR and would be a sick complement to Roy Williams - but he's not needed)

a WR for this Lion's team, will not make a huge difference. They need multiple position players. I'd def start with the OL and a QB. No washed up one either. And go from there.
Fire your GM!

Should you murder someone in cold blood? Of course not. The Lions should take Brady Quinn or Jamarcus Russel, whichever isnt going to Oakland. And Matt Millen shouldve been fired long ago so he can screw up as many more times as he wants. He cant do anything worse, right?

They need a QB. This may be a bit biased since I'm a Viking fan, but they should take Brady Quinn. I don't think he'll be that good, so Millen might take him. Maybe if you fire him and you could compete in the Black and Blue Division.
