I live in London myself and I have to (okay, volunteered to) entertain a friend of a friend who is Australian and only arrived in London yesterday, so as yet she hasn't seen too much here. We're both female, aged mid-20s, don't have loads of money but not necessarily looking for an extremely cheap night either, and would appreciate some ideas!
I was thinking of a bar or a club, but need ideas on specifically where. Not really interested in shows, restaurants, etc.

Comedy Store is always good for a laugh.
Why not try one of the boat/pub things such as the Tattershall Castle? Or Covent Garden? Abundance of pubs there and you get the street entertainers too which add to the atmosphere.
