Mine is probably the one I'm reading right now - Hell's Angel by Ralph "Sonny" Barger. I hate to abandon any book, though, so I might struggle through to the bitter end.

Hannibal, by Thomas Harris.

The idea that Clarice could somehow be turned to the "darkside" was impossible for me to take.

"Blokes and Babies" by Brad Storey. I had to read a book on babies for a course I was doing and picked this one up thinking that it would be good because it was from a man's perspective. It was the worst piece of crap I have ever come across. The guy is a complete d**khead. Thinks he can write because he is a radio jock. The content was useless to absolutely anyone reading it other than the (hopefully) few shallow men that want their woman to 'keep their shape' after having a baby. I just wish it had been fiction. I probably would have coped better with it.

I could list several. I NEVER bother to finish a book that I'm not enjoying, such a waste of time. Too little time, so many good books out there waiting to be read. I've been known to hurl a book across the floor in disgust at the poor writing. How does some of this trash get published?

The first in the "Dark Tower" series by Stephen King, (I cannot remember the exact name), the problem is I hate to leave a book unfinished, so I had to struggle through it.

Also I know that a lot of people will probably disagree but, 2 of the Harry Potter books the Order of the Phoenix and The Half Blood Prince are both terrible. Its a shame really as I loved the Goblet of Fire, I thought it was fantastic.

If I can't get into a book within the first few pages, I know I'm not going to enjoy it and don't bother going any further. At the moment I'm reading The Price of Honour by Jan Goodwin about the lives for women in hardline Muslim countries. I've just read what it's like for women living in Pakistan (the first chapter), next, I'm moving on to Afghanistan.

I've just finished Madman by Tracy Groot which gives us a background to the Biblical story of the possessed man living among the tombs whom Jesus relieved of his Legions of demons.

Catch 22 is the worst book I've read. I was so disappointed as I'd loved the film and thought I would enjoy the book but it's bizarre writing style made it impossible to read.
When I was at school we were forced to read George Elliots Silus Marner which was dreadfull.
I don't like the Harry Potter books but I appreciate that's down to taste.

I agree with cate; if a book's boring what's the point of wasting time ploughing through it. Having said that, I did persevere with 'Labyrinth' by Kate Mosse which is probably the most over-hyped and over-rated book (apart from 'The Da Vinci Code') I did actually wade through. Silly me! The best this year is 'The Savage Garden' by Mark Mills.

The New Evidence That Demands a Verdict by Josh McDowell.

This guy makes claims that are that far out that an idiot wouldn't fall for them.

He sites stacks of proverbs, and lists their fulfillments. In most cases one thing has nothing at all to do with the other.

My rating for his book Double stinko.

Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger!
Generally I don't read a book if I'm not enjoying it, but it was in the BBC Big Read programme a few years back and I set myself the challenge to try and read everything in the top 100... it fell apart because Catcher in the Rye was the first one I attempted and it bored me to tears!
