You answered your own question. "A" is the first step. Interestingly, few people see this when they start their first business. Often, major marketers with big budgets create a need in order to sell a new product or service.

check out ur competitions (local/global) on the scale u wanna succeed, see what they do, what works, research is important and then act on that research by using important info from it and also come up with new ideas n plans to beat off the rivals., also establish a personal success philosophy, generalized, its better than having just a business philosophy.read ,'think n grow rich' by N.Hill.
