depens on the connection on the combi.

If it has phono out and the dvd has phono in, then yes ( but this will only give 2.1 ch's )

If the combi has opticial ( which is unlikely ) then use that connection as it will give you 5.1

As far as I know DVD Combi's only have a stereo out not 5.1. However if you have a good enough 5.1 system it might up scale the stereo input to a synthesised 5.1.
