After all, today is St. Urho's Day!

Everyone knows that St. Patrick was the patron saint of Ireland, his feast day is on March 17, his color is green, and he drove the snakes from Ireland...but how many know about good ol' St. Urho?

He is the patron saint of Finland, whose day is the 16th. People wear purple in his honor to celebrate him chasing the grasshoppers out of Finland.

He might be fictional, but in northern Minnesota and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, the Finns go wild and get a day's head start on the beer consumption!

Let me be the first to wish everyone, liberal or conservative, a very happy St. Urho's Day! :-)

Anthony: Of course you reject it. Why wouldn't you? *sigh* Now chill out and have a purple beer.

Zoltar: Have you met Anthony? You two could be great friends. That being said, I tip my cap to the brave men and women of Canadian Forces as they stand shoulder to shoulder with US troops in defense of freedom.

I'll hoist one to the banishment of the grasshopper. The question is, are you familiar with the tale of the Ant and the Grasshopper?

Nice thought, Rick, but let's just see how many Americans die today in Iraq and how many Canadians die in Afghanistan then we'll see how influencial your fictional saint really is. By the way, the real war is in Afghanistan where the Canadians are going it almost alone while the Americans waste everybody's time and money in Iraq killing people who did them no harm at all.

DIE you grasshopper-loving, drunken, Finish scum!

But, speaking of beer consumption, I hear President Bush might be drinking again. I'm not sure about that, but here's a short one minute video that I found on YouTube. See what you think.
