Last night while I was driving, my car just shut off (of course it was raining). When I tried to start the car again, it wouldn't even turn over. However the lights, radio and my daughters DVD player were still working. I am way way overdue for an oil change. I'm not sure if it is an engine problem since the check engine light did NOT go on, nor was there any smoke coming from under the hood and my temp gauge didn't show any overheating. Anyone know what might cause this? I have a 2002 Santa Fe with 50k miles on it ... any help is appreciated. Thanks!

When I would press on the gas to get the car to go, it wouldn't move as fast as it normally did, it took it a bit to get moving. There was some loud clicking like noise coming from the hood yesterday before it happened. My car almost sounded like it was a mac truck at times it was loud when I would drive it.

Alot could cause the things you listed, though we do need more info to really try to get an idea of whats wrong. Was it running normal, did it seem rough, was there any warning, like it slowing down in RPM's. Any of these details could be helpful in troubleshooting what your problem is.
Was your temp gauge not registering hot or was it not resistering at all? I mean worst case secinerio, your temp gauge isnbt working, and you didnt see your engine overheat, and if it happened too often or got too bad, your engine could have siezed, not very likely though, most new vehicles have built in precaution to prevent this from happening.
With some more details, you may be able to get a better idea of whats wrong.

Sounds like you are getting moisture in the ignition. Check the distributor cap for a tiny hairline crack. A quick temporary fix is to spray WD40 on the inside of the cap and along your spark plug wires. The best thing is to replace the plugs, wires and distributor cap. Change the oil or you won't have an engine to worry about much longer.

There may be a fuse blown or a fusible link melted that passes power to the starter. Maybe the rain got a frayed wire to short out. Sounds like something electrical. Can't be more helpful without seeing it. Sorry. Good luck.

Well it could be several things. Wet plugs, clogged fuel filter, o2 sensor. Has the car been running rough? Does this only happen when it rains? You will need to elaborate more in detail and give as much info about what the car is doing before and when this happens.

i ought to trust the others. From what you have stated you have brought about some extreme harm on your engine. you will choose the engine re-outfitted or replaced. the two way that's going to be very high priced and you'd be able to stumble on its no longer nicely worth doing. in all probability it is going to recommend you will ought to purchase a clean vehicle.

Do you pay payments and if so are they over due?
because if they are the dealership might have that thing that can turn a car off whereever it is until they pay their bill.

Could be a weak battery, or connection. See if the horn blows. Or Could be the fuel pump.
