Hey "Graduation" by vitamin C makes EVERYBODY cry. try that out. Or you can try "Dance with my father again" by Luther Vandross. One of those should be guarenteed to work.

Hmm, I know some good farewell songs that work for graduations and such...

Queen- We are the champions
Boyz 2 Men- End of the Road
Led Zeppelin- Kashmir
Aerosmith- Don't wanna miss a thing
Sevendust- Angels Son (beautiful song!)
Beatles- The long and winding road
Van Halen- Right now
Third eye blind- How's it gonna be
Metallica- Nothing else Matters

Thats all I can think of right now, but all those would be great, stirring songs to play at a farewell party (if you like rock, that is)

You could try Jeff Buckley singing Lilac Wine or Hallelujah ... or Leonard Cohen singing Alexandra Leaving (which is almost too sad to bear ... do check that nobody in the class has recently had a death in the family, especially if the person's name was Alexandra).

If your taste runs to classical music, Edward Elgar's 'King Arthur Suite' has a track - it's not a song with words - called Arthur's Passage to Avalon, and I cry every time I listen to that; also his Cello Concerto - the version played by Jacqueline du Pre and conducted by Sir John Barbirolli - has been EMI's top-selling classical record for about the last 30 years. You might have difficulty finding the King Arthur Suite but you'll have no problems at all finding the Cello Concerto. (The reference number for King Arthur is CHAN 6582); the track is about four and a half minutes long - that's the one I would choose if I could find it. The orchestra is the Bournemouth Sinfonietta, conducted by George Hurst. I hope you succeed and that you like it.

Usually in Farewel Event we sang "Never Say Goodbye" from Bon Jovi. But I don't guarantee it will make everybody cry.

There is a song by Cold Play that used to make me cry over and over again when I split up with my boyfriend. The main lyrics are "And I miss youuuuuuuu so...." its not soppy like it has to be about a couple, it could be about anything. But its contempory and its cool. Its called "Warning Sign" and its on their 2002 album - A Rush of Blood To the Head
