i mean i like saiyuki...but clearly, its not so popular...even though the illustrations are way better in saiyuki as compared to FMA...tht's..wht i feel :)

For the same reason that Inuyasha and Dragonball Z are so popular. Because Fullmetal Alchemist is on television. Easy access makes it more popular.
It's probably doesn't help that the pretty boys of Saiyuki turn off us male anime fans from the series. ^^;

I think the story of Sayuki is basic (you know they only kill monsters).
Although it also contain some drama,you can still see the difference of the drama seen in Fullmetal Alchemist
