hi. i knw most of the chords and stuff but while accompanying a singer, in what all different ways can a guitar be strummed? i do know that there are many methods for the different time signatures but i'm just interested in knowing about 4/4 and 3/4

Alternate picking not only works for lead guitar, it also works for your style. Try finding the different notes in the chord that go with your melody. Also, try a reggae rythm, pick in between beats, this works best with 7ths or 9ths to spice things up a bit.

another good method is to arpeggiate the chords. Instead of strumming all the notes in one motion, try playing the notes of the chord individually until the all the notes of the chord is played.

Personally, I don't care about time when it comes to strumming a guitar. I strum totally by feel and rhythm. Just go with your gut, and you'll sound fine.

variations on where you strum; on the fret board or on the soundhole or at the bridge... different timbres.

variations in low high mid sections of strings (phonetically: bo dinka bo dinka bo dinka bo doo, repeat)
