If you are referring to the Gerber brand Lil' Dipper, than no, it is not appropriate for use with a 1 month old. This product, as printed on the package, is designed to be used by babies who are able to sit on their own, which generally is about 5-7 months of age. It is the recommendation that babies be fed breast milk exclusively until 6 months of age. If the baby is receiving formula as a substitute for breast milk, this should also continue exclusively until 6 months. At 6 months, you can begin introducing solids. Often infant rice cereal is a first choice for the beginning solid. Early introduction of solids has been linked to a higher incidence of obesity and allergies. Some pediatricians recommend, and some babies are ready for, solids between 4-6 months. Before 6 months, solids are used as a supplement to breast milk or formula and should not replace them until after 6 months. Whenever you and your baby's doctor decide to introduce solids, begin with an infant feeding spoon. Hold off on using the Lil' Dipper until your baby is able to sit well on his/her own and seems interested in learning how to feed him/herself, probably around 9-12 months old.

If you're talking about the babyfood feeder thing, no it's not. A one month old baby doesn't have a good enough swallowing ability to eat solid food. Save the dipper for a couple months and then try it out.
