The reason that many people feel that Gore did in fact win the 2000 election can be traced to the fact that Gore received more of the popular vote, while Bush carried the electoral college. We will never know what would have happened if the Supreme Court had not halted the Florida recounts ( Bush v. Gore ). As of the final recount, Bush only led by 537 votes, which for a state the size of Florida, is much less than 1%. Although people continue to argue back and forth about this, it is over and done with. Whether you agree with the outcome or not, it is time to put it behind us and work together to make our country a better place.

You might be a democrat if you think that the health of EVERY American is one of the most important priorities this country could have. That no one should be denied healthcare because they can't afford it. That it would mean higher taxation for individuals and corporations, but that we cannot be a superpower if we allow our own citizens to die from conditions that are easily cured with basic healthcare.
