Well how do YOU define a "terrorist"? If you look there are many different vague descriptions of the word. Here are some supplied by Answers.com http://www.answers.com/topic/terrorist
terrorist

(DOD) An individual who uses violence, terror, and intimidation to achieve a result. See also terrorism.

Now that comes from the department of defense. By using this defination, it seems everyone is guilty of being a terrorist even the US.

I also think you are confusing stronger with adaptability. It is not that who you call terrorists are stronger they are just more adaptable in changing tecniques than the US is by defending themselves against them.

You have to remember we are not fighting "terrorists" alone, we seem to be fighting Iraqis. Put it this way... a person is more apt to have more emotion, more reason, more vision in defending his/her own home than someone who is forced to fight. Many Iraqis have lost loved ones becuase of the US (admit there have been many mistakes made by the US) and now are turning against us.

How would you feel if lets say England decided to invade us, occupy us becuase they felt our government was not working and while doing so, killing, raping torturing, your friends, family, and other Americans?? Would you just sit there and let it happen or would you defend yourself? You would have more reason to fight and win than the English soldier who has no choice but to be there. You would also use anything you had to fight. That is why IED's and bombs in vehicles, are the most common way to fight for them. That is what they have that they know we can defend against all the time. They are not stupid illiterate people who live in tents and ride on camels.

By the defination given by the DOD we are just as guilty of being a terrorist as the Iran, Syria or the other nations they claim are terrorists.

So again it is about what you think a terrorist is.. There is no easy answer as it is a paradox of a question, to many unknowns....

The Terrorists are not becoming stronger. They have become desperate and are doing minimal damage. Many are blowing themselves up and take few innocent people with them.

Many of their own people have conceded that what they believe is not the right way.

All countries including Iran are putting much pressure on Terrorists to stop the killing of innocent people.

They know that the US is not playing games. In time, Terrorists will become educated...or become History.

America, the United States, is very strong.

Holler (?) where did you get that idea.

Why do you equate world domination with strength? I wish other countries would not cast America in that role. We have a lot more things like education and health care in our own country that we can spend our hard earned money on rather than spend overseas on countries you have to bribe so that they won't war on the USA. Where is the fairness in that?
The only reason America became a superpower was to combat fanatics such as Hitler. We were happy over here on the farm to begin with. Try telling a farmer or an industrial worker he isn't strong and I say you do an injustice to poor people who want to earn an honest living just working forty or more hours a week.

What makes you think that America is not strong? We still possess the most formidable military on the face of the planet. The problem with terrorism is that convention military forces and tactics are of little use against an enemy the likes of terrorism. Here are some of the reasons.

Terrorists operate in small cells, not large military organizations.
Terrorists hide among the general population and use them as shields.
Terrorists do not attack the military directly, but rather choose to prey on the innocent and largely defenseless civilian population.
Terrorists do not owe allegiance to, nor do they operate from particular countries.

Terrorists are an unconventional enemy. In order to combat terrorists we must adopt new strategies and rethink our views of traditional warfare. For many years we ignored the threat and this allowed terrorists to gain a foothold in many places in the world. We are learning and adapting everyday. The United States is not weak, but we are in a transitional stage. We will never completely defeat terrorism. This is because in order to do so we would have to remove all of the reasons terrorists exist in the first place and this is just not going to happen because some of their demands are unreasonable. What we must do is hold firm to the idea that they cannot be allowed to scare us into appeasement and we must be willing to engage them where they hide.

I guess the Americans that fought for Independence were terrorists and, at the time, they fought against the strongest military force on the planet and WON.

The Viet Nam war was lost in much the same way.

The US has the largest death machine on the planet but it can't win against guerrilla attacks. The only thing helping the US in this war is the fact that the Iraqis are being stupid and fighting each other.

I only can pray that the next terrorist attack hits in the heart of liberalism, San Francisco. Maybe then some of those people will wake up.

America will always be strong. We have been through harder times, a hundred times over. The one thing about America is, nobody agrees most of the time and it makes us weak. However, when something shocks us into action, America is the meanest beast of any nation.

America is strong! I would not suggest to terrorists to push us as a people too far. So far they have hurt us badly in their fervor to die for thier cause but winning one battle does not win the war! We learned that in the world wars. There is much to be said for living to fight another day. Americans will only tolerate so much and then we will require action. There is much disagreement in our country but when push comes to shove Americans will stand together even as we disagree with each other.

So long as the terrorists religion tells them that suicide for your cause is a good thing then the attitude of the US is justified- we are better, we are stronger, and we are richer than many other places because we worked hard for it. Our national income is high because we as a people make good money so what our government has is from our hard work. Countries come to us for help time and again because we can help them and do help many countries of the world. Our power comes from our wealth and position in the world, the terrorist(s) have some old guy in sheet sitting in a cave somewhere in Afganistan.

Most of the greatest generation has died out and the few who are left feel that our country has gone to pot.

The newer generations who will be responsible for the security of our country, from now on, will be the ones here and now. You can answer your question by seeking out the current generations.

The strength of America..resulting from the greatest generation,..needs another such group.

I think that if we can get over all this internal partisan animosity in the U.S we will be able to easily destroy the terrorists. We also have more recourcess and power than any otherr country or organization in the world.
