Last night I browned a pound of hamburger and put a bowl into the sink to drain the grease into. The bowl spilled and now my sink is clogged. It is bad weather and I don't want to go out to the store. Is there anything other than Liquid Plumber or Drano that I could use? Maybe something I already have on hand?

It's likely that the trap under the sink is clogged. Place a bucket under it and disconnect it from the piping. This will get rid of a lot of the grease anyways. Reconnect the trap. Then you can run hot water down the drain. I would recommend an enzyme drain cleaner such as DrainCare by Zep. This can be used safely in all drainage systems. Hair, grease and soap scum build up in drainlines. An enzyme cleaner clings to and "eats" organic matter. I use this monthly and have no drain problems.

I think a combination of what some people are suggesting will do the trick. Make a slurry of baking soda and vinegar if you have them and pour it in the sink. Boil enough water in pots to fill all four burners of your stove. When boiling, pour them right down the sink. If that does no do the trick, you will have to snake from the lowest clean out point (the large nut mentioned).

Simply pouring hot boiling water worked for me. I just ran the hot water for a bit after it went down to make sure I got rid of the grease. I didnt need to do any hard work of unscrewing any pipes or shutting off the water.

Dump a boiling pot of water into the sink. Also get an enzyme septic treatment at the grocery store to help dissolve, especially if you have a septic tank.

You could try baking soda and vinegar, though it may not cut a lot of grease. Put about a cup of baking soda down your drain and then about 2 cups of vinegar. You will see the reaction and then flush with cold water.

this happened to me yesterday and like the first person said simply put a bucket underneath the pipes turn off the main water valve and unscrew. pull the pipe out and clean thoroughly. No need to use liquid plummer -usually when I dump out the oil I always use dawn and hot water at the same time to try to avoid this problem- good luck

Got any Washing Soda? Try dissolving with that.Or, you could connect a short hose to your cold supply, wrap cloth around to create a seal, and pressure down the drain. You will need to block the overflow.
