It's a nice name and goes with your surname. It's reasonably popular, but I don't think it's very common.

Calum sounds nice, but I am not sure if it goes with your surname Calum Ryan. I think Josh Ryan has a nice ring to it. The chances are when he is born you will call him something completely different.

Congratulations and best of luck

I really like Calum, it's not one I'd heard much before, but I'm starting to think about having babies too. My surname is Wilson so a lot of the names that I love (Calvin, for instance) won't work. Calum is really nice and it flows with Ryan.

Calum seems to be increasingly more common. Also, I disagree with those saying it goes nicely with your surname. "Calum Ryan" ...Not a good fit.
If you really want an "uncommon" name, try going to a baby names website and looking at the "most popular" list. Then go with something far from those on it.

My surname is Ryan too! :-)

My boy is called Harry. I'll list the ones in the family i remember Peter, Micheal, Steven, Phillip, George, James, Owen.

I have to say i personally think Calum is, well..... a bit chavy to be honest but it's your baby hun you can call him whatever you like.

Why don't you get a baby name book? or even put baby names in to google. There are some really great sites out there. What i did was list all the names me and my partner liked then looked at it every day to see if we had changed our minds, which we did LOADS!! lol

Anyway take care and good luck with the baby

In the book Noughts and Crosses there is a dad called Ryan and a son named Calum. They both get hanged. I think you should change Calum for something else in case he ever reads that book.
