IQ tests are designed to have a mean of 100 and a certain standard deviation (usually 15 for the best known ones). So 127 would be nearly 2 standard deviations above the mean. Assuming the test was a reputable one* and the test was undertaken under appropriate conditions (e.g., timing etc.) one can estimate that you are in the top 2.5 to 3% of the population.
I won't speculate on what IQ means (there are thousands of books and articles written on it).
Its also worth noting that IQ tests get out of date quite quickly and generally IQ test scores rise over time: so if you take even a reputable ten year old test its mean value might well be 103 or 105. The accuracy also depends on the type of people used to produce norms for the test.
* There are lots of dodgy ones on the internet - often they offer a sample set of Qs for free which return a high IQ score - then they try and get you to pay for the full test!

I'd say you should be more concerned with the reason you asked the question. So-called IQ scores don't mean very much at all, and have caused undue misery for people who worry their IQ's are lower than someone else's. Project Zero, at Harvard U., has a team of psychologists that have, for the past 25 years, been helping to show that the old concept of IQ is rather pointless. The best thing it can predict is what a person will get on another IQ test. Even the idea of finding out how "intelligent" you are based on a test created by someone else is a bit scary. Why not create your own IQ test and give it to the creators of a standard IQ test, and see how well they do?

The average IQ score is 100, anyone below that is below average and you are certainly above average. I'd say in the top 10% of the population.
I, apparently, have an IQ (I almost forgot how to spell it!) of around 136 which puts me in the top 7%.
You're not considered a genius (although I do have some colleagues who harbour suspicions that I am - they tell me, to my embarrassment) unless you have an IQ of at least 150.
High intelligence can be problematic though and with the best intentions you try to impart knowledge or correction (I, for the life of me, can't understand why someone wouldn't want their misinformation corrected.), just to have people tell you it wasn't wanted.
Plus, you get the reputation of being high-brow. I was brought up on an extremely rough council estate - attended a 'bog-standard' comp and have a low paid job as a carer - I love what I do - my ladies and gentlemen are fantastic people but everyone wonders why I'm not a highflyer. Now, there's a story for another time.
Incidentally, most of the people I work with would have told me off for using 'big' words had they been listening to this little discourse.

I have administered IQ tests for over 20 years. If this test was given properly by a qualified person, you would have received a verbal and written report explaining exactly what the score means. You would have also received other scores for individual subtests which were conbined to give you an overall score. The number you gave is much above average if it is a standard score but meaningless if it is a raw score.

It shows smarts , but I know a lot of people with book smarts ,and higher education who have no common sense , I know a guy who is a self made millionaire , and is good at what he does but can not change a light bulb in his house or his car .. he has a high IQ but in the real world he is dumb as a rock . Not saying you are , just in general, mine was 120 but I was a high school drop out too. I went back 10 years later and got my GED . now I do not even have to really work for a living , and will still be retired by age 50 .others with higher IQ's will be working until their 60's or longer

I really don't think IQ tests are a valid indication of intelligence. I took two tests, one was 142, the other was 140.
Yes, I am intelligent.
But I also know people who have far lower IQ's than mine, and they know much more in certain areas than I ever will.
Certain people I know are possibly higher IQ-wise than I am, but they have no sense whatsoever.
I always wanted to take the MENSA test just to see if I could qualify for membership, but I never have.
Because it doesn't really matter. It isn't going to change what I do with my life or the directions that I go in.

it's above average.. personally my IQ cannot be measured by finite numbers.. j/k ;)-
actually from what I've heard lately, IQs are pretty much meaningless.. there are 8 different forms of intelligence.. IQ only takes into account one or two of those forms of intelligence..
a friend of mine got a double-digit IQ score, but he makes around $100K a year and is very successful.. I also know someone with an IQ of 140 who works at McDonalds.. so IQ does not determine success..

It's above average. The average IQ is known to be around 100. :)
Your IQ score doesn't really determine how smart you are, it determines how fast you can solve a difficult situation and your pattern of thinking.
People with higher IQ tend to understand things better and absorb information faster, whereas the people with lower IQ don't really get the information as fast, (it's natural) though their hardworking and imagination - like Dr. Albert Einstein's can show them to be geniuses. ;)
IQ scores aren't the ones that determine how much you know and how experienced you are - a baby can have a very high IQ although she/he doesn't know much. :P

An IQ of between 90 - 120, is considered average, so yes you have a good IQ, I also did a test mine was 120, so you are more clever than I.

This is high average. IQ scores have been found to be inaccurate and don't reflect the true intelligent quotient of everyone. So I wouldn't put much faith in this. They don't always reflect the true scope of knowledge or strengths by the person who has done the test.
