everytime you hear her name think of what you've escaped if you dont love her then thinking about the way you would feel in a prolonged relationship with her should take some of the sting away. or you could try to get on with your life to prove to her as it were that you are independant. this will boost your determination more and you will be using your grief as a way of getting over her. you will always be a little upset but sooner or later you will get over her.

I think it is fair to ask your friends to be sensitive to you during this time. Just politely ask them not to tell you things about her. As for pining over her... well it could just be that you miss being with someone, but not necessarily her. I know I have been with some guys in my time and sometimes I think about them and miss them. Then I realize it is just because I am lonely. I think with time, it will hurt less and less and then you will move on to a new relationship. You will find your thoughts of her becoming a thing of the past. Hang in there!

It is natural to pine after someone. If you didn't care about them in the first place you wouldn't have gotten with them. So, now you're alone and your mind wanders back to the old days. Keep you mind occupied with your studies, get a small dog for a pet. Watch the TV, listen to music and dance alone, naked, in the dark... sorry, got distracted. Give yourself time you'll get over it. Good luck with the nursing career.

Yea thats sad. mabe you should go out to the club with some friends or do something where meeting other poeple is invovled. Im not saying you should jump into a realtionship, especially if your still feeling this way about your EX. But the best way to forget about someone is to think about someone new.

Do exactly that. Ask your friends not to talk about her. Tell them the memories are painful and you don't want to discuss them anymore. Concentrate on your nursing career and the new life you are building. When memories come across your mind in the night, just look at them like they are on a movie screen. Then turn them off, sleep soundly, and be ready to start another wonderful new day....one with limitless possibilitites.

What you resist, persists. What you face, goes away. By this I mean, don't ask your friends not to speak about her, it will eventually become a way of life and it will inevitably stop bothering you ... :)

I'm not sure why your friends would bring her up at all anyway. They should know it's hurtful right now. I would ask them to please not bring her up for a while. Even though the relationship ending was for the best, it still hurts to talk about her right now.
