I think it is a good thing, it shows they are becoming there own person and not so reliant upon what others believe.
But I would absolutely explain why I believe like I do on something, and then I would expect them to be able to explain to me why they believe what they do. I wouldn't take something like 'because Kim said so' or anything like that.

It is good that your child has its own opinion , that would make his personality grow up , but you know what is good for him and also what is harmful . so try to discuss with him from this point of view . try to mention some things that happened when you was a child and your opinion was differs of your dads or mums opinion . and you discovered then that they were right . and you wish the best for him . that might help making him understands .
