The doctor will tell you after your check up.

At least six weeks. Your doc will explain things to you. If you are meaning natural delivery with absolutely no drugs, then yes of course it is painful - but that's our cross to bear as women. Worth everything to get that little bundle of joy out healthy and happy! Good luck...

Usually as soon as you are completely healed which is about six weeks. Though the first try may be a bit uncomfortable and painful for some people for others it is totally normal, somethimes even better. And of course natural childbirth is really painful but it's the price we pay for our angels.

they usually say 6 weeks, but really you can as soon as you feel ready, however remember especially if you are not breastfeeding that you can begin to ovulate soon after birth and could find yourself pregnant again, so use some protection if that isn't what you want :)
if you have stitches, you should wait so that you don't rip them or cause infection.
as far as being painful.. I assume by natural birth you are just meaning vaginal? there are pain medications that you can use like an epidural, etc. feel free to IM if you would like to talk about anything else.

They say six weeks, and if you have the ambition, go for it! Any delivery is painful, but soon forgotten! Trust me I had a 10 lb baby!

You need to wait until the doc gives you the green light, which should be at your six week postpartum exam.

If you do it before you then, you risk splitting a stitch which will make you bleed (infection, too, if your stitches aren't healed. Only your doc can tell you if they are).

Good luck.

I waited until i seen the doctor for my postnatal checkup. That was six weeks. I was lucky i did not have stitches when I had my son. Then i was right to go. Just take it easy if you do have stiches.

my last ob/gn told me after having my 3 yr old child that we had to wait 3 months to a year with protection so my body could heal up and get ready for another pregnacy if happens.

You'll need to wait until you get the all clear from your OBGYN after your 6 week check up.
