My husband got my hooked on brats. He always raves how much better they are in St. Louis, but he doesn't know where to get them. Do you know of any restaurant / eatery that serve good St. Louis style brats in St. Louis?

In St. Louis, one place came to mind right away - Mateker's Meat Market.

They're a butcher, and also do catering, and they have prepared foods, including bratwurst, for sale.

A second place I can think of is Swiss Meats.

They are in Hermann, MO, which is about an hour west of St. Louis. They have many different flavors of bratwurst, including ones with cheese, onions, peppers, etc. They were featured on the Food Network's "Road Tasted."

If you still find yourself searching, keep your eyes open for "pork sausage" as well as bratwurst. The two are very similar, but they have been flavored with different seasonings. My husband's favorite pork sausage comes from Behrmann Meat Market in Albers, IL.

the feasting fox is supposedly good german food, so I'm guessing they have brats there. I've never actually been there. It's on the corner of S. Grand and Meramec.

but why eat brats, when you can get some tastey roast beef sandwiches from lion's choice. There is a lion's choice on hanley road next to home depot. And they are supposed to be building one on the corner of landsdowne and chippewa but it's taking forever!!!!!!! the lot has been empty for over a year.

OR just go to shop n save and get some cheddar smoked sausage. those are yummy.

Any good meat store, such as DJs, which is actually in House Springs but not too far from the city, Grant's Farm, usually any roadside barbecue place, Strassenfest or any other German festival. If you had come to my home last night, I made them.
