Thanks for your replies to my question re reducing the sizing on my screen resolution, I also asked microsoft help..nothing helped..my log on screen is also disproportionate..when i go to control panel, display, appearence there is no icon, on mine, as the computer I saw at work for increasing decreasing the screen that one can see as it is being done..also my slider for this purpose does not work..so where do I go from here..? help. I have XP on a older desk top..I went to bed one night woke up and it was like this..I don't go fooling around with the real tech stuff only what I can understand or guided to do..Help!!

right click on desktop.
select properties
click on settings tab
this is the place where you can set the screen resolution.
set it to a higher value
press apply, press ok
try different settings to see what suits best for the screen

The only way I know to set screen resolution is:

right-click on the desktop
at the bottom of the list, click Properties
click the Settings tab
move the slider to 1024x768

Would appreciate knowing if this helps.

There should be a resize utility at ZD Net
I know they had a Bunch of Cool stuff in an email I received earlier at home

The drivers of your video card might be deleted or not installed. If it's not the case, The Humble One and Rajure Sanjay gave you good answers.

You must install or update the graphic card's driver (and for the monitor in case it's not recognized automatically by XP).
