I think it's more important for the doctors to know, but pregnant women like to follow along with their baby's fetal development to feel a closer connection. I read up on my son's weekly developments and will tell his father about it. We get so proud when our baby supposedly opens his eyes, supposedly finishes developing his ears, etc. I think it strengthens the bond between mother and child and makes the pregnancy more real to me.
