During her time at Gateshead Hall we learn that Jane is the daughter of a rich cotton manufacturer and that she has 6 brothers and sisters.
At Lowood we learn that she is dyslexic, quiet and shy.
In the early days at Thornfield Hall we learn that both her parents have been killed in a railway accident and that her brothers and sisters have all married and moved overseas, abandoning Jane, who is now independently wealthy due to her inheriting part of her father's fortune.. Because of her shyness, Jane has developed a stammer which Rochester finds extremely attractive.
Hope this helps with your homework.

There are two Miss Reed's in the novel. They are Georgina and Eliza who are the daugthers of Jane's uncle (i.e her mother's brother) and hence her cousins. During their childhood both her cousins are very cruel to her and make her miserable. However when they meet again at the time of Mrs Reed's death, there is some bonding between Jane and Eliza (who later on becomes a nun). But the same is not the case with Jane and Georgina who remain on different planes.

No. By reading the book, (its in English don't worry), you will pick up clues, write thesed own as you go. Then write a couple of short paragraphs linking these sentences together. Jane Eyre is a very enjoyable book, and Jane is a true heroine. Look beyond the fact that it's Victorian, it's a universal story of survival. But you obviously aren't interested so go back to MTV..

That you should open the book, and read it because otherwise you'll fail on the exam!

Jane Eyre is a very interesting read, actually. Open up the book, and get started!

That is one of the best love stories I have ever read. I have read it dozens of times. It has adversity, adventure, excitement, revenge, lost love, and finally found love and happily ever after ending. Best book I ever read and still reading it.
