Yes indeed. Though the Indian foreign policy has inclined favourably towards the US in the recent past, the US does not view India as a 'strategic ally' (like Japan, S. Korea, UK and Australia). Therefore with its own interests at stake, the US conveniently vetoed Tharoor's nomination. With Ban Ki Moon, a South Korean at the helm, the US will be able to leverage major decisions in its favour.

yes shashi tharoor represents the 100 crore population of india. so he must not be a slave to the big countries and it make the country prestage go down. so if the othr ppl want to be a follower as a leader then its best to go down

one,Of course, US always doesn't view INDIA to be a good ally.
this is becoz. india never readily accepts war and harsh policies and follows NON-ALIGNMENT.this is why we are not a permanent member in UN SECURITY COUNCIL.
two,north korea's nuke prog. is of great concern for US.
by making a south korean as sec.gen.it will put more PRESSURE.
also ban-ki-moon will prove to be a puppet if US decides to fight iran.
