The author has answered his/her own question to his/her satisfaction. In fact it is possible to have capitalism and a fair distribution of wealth, not equal but fair. Marxism is a flawed view of human nature and hence is a flawed system. Pure capitalism is equally flawed. But capitalism with redistributionist features and a social safety net is probably the best system.

Capitalism provides jobs and opportunity for the poor. Indeed, business is a better solution to poverty than charity because people can get jobs and learn new skills to serve others, progressively making more income. They can get health insurance and provide for their familes, feeling good because their skills enable them to help others. I was once broke on welfare and now make a high income. How? I decided to forget about my needs and focused on the needs of others. I asked questions and learned skills to serve others and now enjoy a very high quality of life and I can afford to help the less fortunate--by choice. The tragedy of life is that Democrats preach many are victims and entitled to be taken care of when many of them, like me, could learn skills to care for others and progress economically.

People have unlimited wants and needs, they try to satisfy with scarce resources. That is a basis fact of human existence.
If you want to say capitalism and communism are equally bad, whatever, that's your problem.
But it does not change the fact that people want things and need things. Some governments are set up so people are free to pursue their wants and needs, some are set up so the State's needs come before the people's.
