It depends - If you don't know what you want to do, college can be time consuming and costly. It helps tremendously to have a game plan before you start. I recommend talking to people in the fields you are considering as a profession first and asking questions such as how much training is required, how many hours they work a week, how much money they make and how much they like their jobs. There are also books you can buy. The "Occupational Outlook Handbook", for instance, lists salary, hours, educational requirements, and job satisfaction ratings for hundreds of jobs.

NO. you get knowledge by studying. it is not a waste to study in college and university. If you are not going to study in college, then where are you going to study. you will learn things when somebody teaches you. so it is not a waste. it is a must.
