"The best defense is a strong offense." or vice versa.
"Guerrilla tactics"
"The strategy of the scorched earth."

The three above are famous military strategic themes. They are not actual goals but they are a general way of how any goal will be conquered or at least the intention of how that goal will be met.

In business these themes can be anything.
From how they treat their human resources to 'take the money and run' themes. Be aware that only the 'positive' themes will be advertised but many will never be disclosed.

A strategic theme is a formulation of what makes the business tick, or even better...what that tick sounds like.

Strategic themes focus on outcomes or results and are qualitative in nature.
