It's really interesting to me how my body seemed to know the appropriate way to sleep when I was pregnant. I am a very restless sleeper, and it was worse when I was pregnant. I wound up in a lot of strange positions. But no matter how tired I was, if I was in a position that could be harmful to the baby, my body always seemed to know when to turn out of it.
Don't worry about waking up in weird positions. Chances are very good that you didn't spend long sleeping that way.

In pregnant women, if sleeping at your back creates much problem, discomfort, difficulty in breathing, hypertension...then you have no choice but to sleep at your sides.
With the growing weight of the baby and the amniotic fluid can put pressure on major artery or veins in central part of your body thus put you under acute hypertension disorder...thus you have no choice but to sleep by your left side.
If you sleep by your right side...you might have difficulty in breathing.
You usually awakened with back twisted flat on bed. To others it is uncomfortable and bad to your spinal curvature. Later on you will be deformed.
So, why not fixed your body with pillows and blanket to prevent soreness and deformations of your body. Anyway, it is just temporary until the baby is born.

I'll do that sometimes too....I'm a stomach sleeper w/ an existing back problem, so getting comfortable is very tough! I miss the days where I could just roll over & not wake up...but now every time I roll, I wake up grab my tummy & roll...but it's ALL worth it!
